1. Choosing A Project:

TOPICS THAT INTEREST ME: CURRICULUM CONNECTION:
something with forces and motion, objects speed, and verticle lifting of objects. the connection to what we have learned in class is when we learned about forces and motion.

MY TESTABLE QUESTION:
Do different types of sneakers affect your verticle jump?

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE:
the types of sneakers used in the experiment.
DEPENDENT VARIABLE:
the weight of the person with the sneaker and how high the person jumps. So the sneaker is the cause of the weight of the person - that's what you're saying, so rethink that.

2. Investigate the Information:

NOTES/FACTS:
basketball shoes have grips on the bottom so you don't slide everywhere. they are also high tops so they support your ankles from running back and forth. Supra Skytop are skate shoes and have really good grip. Both shoes have flats bottoms. supra skytop are also high tops and really support your ankles. they are very comfortable to run in and so is are basketball shoes.

NOW THAT I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH, I PREDICT THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION WILL BE:
due to my research, i predict that with the basketball shoes i will be able to jump higher. i think this because the basketball shoes are made to support your ankles. so i think it would make me feel lighter in a way and possibly jump higher. but both shoes are comfortable to play basketball in. but i would say based on my research that i will be able to jump higher with basketball shoes.

3. Plan A Procedure:
1) weigh myself.
2) weigh each pair of shoes.
3) with each trial (3 trials each) i'll have a piece of tape and when i jump i'll put the piece of tape on the wall.
4) measure how high the piece of tape is every trial.
5) find an average how high i touch with each pair of shoes.
6) record my data.

4. What I'll Need:

I have these:I need to locate these:
.Shoes
.measuring tools
.tape

5. Keeping Track - Proposed Data Sheet

6. Analyze It All

Here's a Graph:

|| Weight: || || || || ||
my weight:
135 lbs.

nike shoe:
1 lbs.

Supra shoe:
2 lbs.

Supra Trial 1:
8' 6.5"

Trial 2:
8' 5.5"

Trial 3:
8' 9.5"

Average:
8' 7.5"

Nike Trial #1
8' 6.5"

Trial 2:
8' 5"

Trial 3:
8' 8"

Average:
8' 6.5"

The data shows that out of the three trials for every shoe, i found the average height i vertically jumped. of the data that is shown i could say that with the Supra Skytop i have a higher vertical jump.

Therefore, I conclude that the Supra Skytops help with your vertical jump. for me, they made me jump higher than the Nike basketball shoes.

But was my work valid? . . .Yes my work was valid because i did three trials per shoe. so that gives me a chance to make an average height i have jumped with each shoe.
